hi Ashley, where are the 24hr fitness gyms located? I am thinking about re-joining the Center for health enhancement thru St. Lukes hospital. I belonged there at one time and it is a really great gym, has a pool and water excercise for those who enjoy that. I am alot older than you , but of course that doesn't matter when it comes to being fit. You talked about the "south beach/atkins" diets. I think they are great jumpstart diets for the really obese, laying off the carbs will definately curb your cravings and jump start your metabolism, but long term I could never hang, especially if you work out. I think dropping alot of the carbs that effect your blood sugar is smart, at least reducing them, and of course that would be starchy things and white flour, ect, it turns too pure sugar in the blood stream, but i f you hook that up at the same time with protein, it actually slows down the way it goes into your blood stream and how fast it turns to sugar, and we really do need those carbs before a hard workout, so that's when I do most of my carbs is before I do weights, cardio and such, later after work, I would put those carbs in the form of veggies and fruit, I am so sugar addicted after quitting smoking 3 yrs ago that watching those carbs actually keeps my sugar craving down. I just joined this tribe and will look forward to hearing from anyone. I work in a restaurant that that is a seafood house, makes it easy to make good choices to eat.

BTW to the other post 24 hour fitness's are located at Shawnee Mission Pkwy & Nieman, 87th and State Line (Ward Parkway Shopping ctr), Near Independence Shopping Ctr, and I guess there is one up north.... Then there is the Super Sport at 119th and Metcalf
